TheSimradMS70transducerisashortcylindrical
containerwiththetransducerarraylocatedatthe
bottom.Thetransducercablespenetratethetopofthe
cylinder.
Thetransducerismountedwithtwelve-12-boltswith
M12thread.
Amountingringmustbeweldedtotheblisterplate.
Aclampingringistheninsertedsidewaystowardsthe
mountingring.
Thetwelvescrewspenetratetheclampingring,andare
fastenedinthemountingring.Bothringsaresupplied
bySimrad.
Thetransducermustbemountedsothatithasaclearviewwithinitscoveragesector.It
isalsoimportantthatthetransducerismountedsothatthewaterarounditisnotaerated.
Note
Anaccuratemeasurementofthenalpositionandangularorientationofthetransducer
isalwaysrequiredafterinstallation.
Theriskofgalvaniccorrosionmustbetakenintoaccountinthedesignofthemounting
structure.Periodicinspectionofthemountingscrewsanduseofsacricialanodesis
required.
Thetransducerisprovidedwiththreesacricialzincanodesmountedtoitstopsurface
(lid).Theseanodesmustbereplacedwhen1/3oftheirbodieshavebeenspent.Ifitis
difculttoaccessthezincanodesafterthetransducerhasbeeninstalled,additional
anodesmustbemountedinsidetheblister.Theseadditionalanodesmustbeinelectrical
contactwiththetransducer,butn
o t withtheblisterand/orhull.
Note
Thetransducer-withthecables-isadelicateitem.Greatcaremustbeshownduring
allhandling.
Evenminordamagestothetransducercablemaycausewatertopenetrateboththe
cableandthetransducerbody.Further ,ablowtothetransducerfacemayeasily
damageoneormoreelements.
Transducerunpacking
TheSimradMS70transducerislargeandheavy.Itisalsoadelicateprecisioninstrument,
anditmustbehandledwithcareduringunpackingandinstallation.Thefollowingbasic
rulesfortransducerhandlingMUSTbefollowed.
